The
Newest Gullacher!
Congratulations to Sarah, Kurt, Liam and Kylie on the newest member of their family! Jackson Motley Gullacher was born on Tuesday, November 25 weighing in at 9 lbs 4 oz. Mom and baby are doing well. As their church family, we want to come alongside to bless and help the Gullachers by providing meals. A sign up sheet will be available at church this Sunday or you can email Abbie for more information. Please keep the Gullacher family in your prayers.
Adopt-a-Family
Once again this year, Tapestry is adopting a family for Christmas! Paul and Lynn Hanthorn and their seven children serve above the Arctic Circle in Ft. McPherson, NWT. Paul and Lynn have been up north as church planting missionaries for 17 years, seeking to love, serve and reach their community for Christ. As you can imagine, the cost of living this far north is incredibly high - especially for a large family - and the family gets by on very little. Josh Tait was able to meet and visit with them during the summer.
Tapestry wants to bless and encourage the Hanthorn family by providing a Christmas care package full of gifts and practical items. A sign-up sheet of things the family needs and/or would like will be available at church on Sunday. If you'd prefer to contribute toward the care package with a financial gift, you can give through our regular offering - just designate your gift "Adopt-a-Family". For more information, please contact Josh & Khara Tait.
Set-up Crew
We thank the Lord for the dedicated people who show up faithfully each week to set up for our morning worship service. To share the load, we're looking to establish two or three teams who will rotate our weekly set-up/take-down effort. If you're able to help, please talk to Thom Gordon or Steve Rathje. Come join the team and make a huge behind-the-scenes contribution to our ministry efforts!
Host an Exchange Student
Jay and Meg Vedoya are setting up an ESL (English as a Second Language) homestay program for this winter and are looking for a few host families for Japanese students. For now, they need one host family in Calgary (Dec. 30 to Jan. 3) and another in Cochrane (Dec. 17 to Dec. 29). The students pay for their stay.
This is a fantastic opportunity for building bridges between Japanese students and Canadian Christian families. Most of the students come from a non-Christian background (less than 1% of Japan's population is Christian) and staying with Christians in Canada is a great opportunity for them to make new friends and be exposed to the Gospel. It's like bringing the mission field to our homes! If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Jay & Meg by email or call them at 403-383-8607.
Tapestry Christmas Party
Our church family Christmas party is next Friday, December 5, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at the Tuscany Club. A guest/potluck sign-up will be available at church on Sunday, or contact Lynda Blazina (403-288-6615) or Lorie Gordon (403-668-8886). Also, everyone school-aged and over is asked to bring a wrapped "white elephant" gift (a used item you no longer want, chocolates, etc...) for a light-hearted gift exchange. Parents with pre-school aged children are asked to bring an inexpensive gift for their child to open. We want to use this event to reach out with the love of Christ during the Christmas season, so be sure to invite a friend or neighbor!
Sermon Scripture
Our Scripture passage for this Sunday is Acts 2:1-41. Check it out ahead of time and see what the Lord says to you!
God's Word in You
Here's the memory verse for this week:
For I know the plans I have for you", declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV).

God's Word in You
Here's the memory verse for this week:
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10 NIV).

Friday Night Prayer, Mission Possible, & Serving at The Seed
05/11/08 16:27
Friday Night
Prayer
Our Friday night prayer time is resuming again in November! We gather on the first and third Friday each month for an hour of prayer and then hang out for snacks, games and whatever else we feel like doing! Next prayer time is this Friday, November 7, 7:00 pm at the Blazina's.
Mission Possible
At Tapestry, we want to be intentional about giving ourselves away here in Tuscany, in our city, in our nation and around the globe. Do you have a heart for missions? Have some thoughts and ideas on cool stuff we could do? Steve and Marilyn are hosting a dessert meeting at their place this Sunday, November 9 at 6:30 pm to talk, dream and pray about how God wants us to be on mission together as a church. Please let Steve know if you plan to attend.
Serving at The Seed
Speaking of giving ourselves away, we have an opportunity to help serve some our city's less fortunate at The Mustard Seed Street Ministry on Saturday, November 29 from 9:00 am to noon. We will prepare lunch, help clean the facility and sort through donations. To sign-up, please contact Steve or add your name to the sign-up sheet at church on Sunday.
