THANKS FROM THE VEDOYAS
Dear Friends at Tapestry,

I just wanted to thank all of you who have prayed for me and my family, gave us words of encouragement, and provided us with delicious meals and babysitting while I was put on bed rest for the last 5 weeks due to the risk of preterm labor. We have been so overwhelmed with your loving support and care for us and cannot express how much we appreciate you!!!

Thanks to the plenty of rest I could have, now I'm able to stand up and walk slowly without feeling sharp pain I used to have in the lower belly. And my doctor told me yesterday I can even start doing house chores this week since it's almost 37th week and safe for the baby to come out!

Thank you again for showing Christ-love to me and my family in the most tangible way.

BABY SHOWER FOR TAL JONES
On Saturday, April 10 from 1:30-3:30pm at Heather Bush's house (962 Coopers Drive SW, Airdrie, Heather's ph # 403-980-7044) we will be having a baby shower to celebrate the birth of Tal Jones. If you don't know Anna yet, this would be a great opportunity to bless her with your friendship and extend the love of our church family towards their new family. As the shower is in Airdrie, if you are interested in carpooling, give Lynda Blazina a shout at 403-288-6615 and we will arrange going over together in groups.

YOUTH
This week the youth will be joining the adults at the Blazina's for the Passover Supper at 6:00 pm, and next week they are encouraged to go to the Friday night Holy Week Service between 8:00 - 9:00pm again at the Blazina's. I know that's two weeks in a row of hanging out with old people but, we need you guys to bring a fun and excitement into our lives! Josh and Kelly and Erin will keep you posted on maybe doing something with just the youth in the near future!

FRIDAY NIGHT PASSOVER SUPPER
This Friday, March 26, is the Passover Supper at the Blazina's (37 Tuscany Springs Circle NW), Michael Vowell will be coming and leading us through the Seder Meal and we will also be enjoying a full supper together. Come out and experience an authentic Passover the way Jesus would have. HOLY WEEK SERVICES
Monday March 29 - Friday April 2, we will be holding Holy Week Services at the Blazina's (37 Tuscany Springs Circle NW) from 8:00pm to 9:00 pm.   These will be creative, contemplative, and quiet times set apart to prepare our hearts for Easter.  Come expecting God to reveal Himself in a new way to you this Easter.

FROM MY HEART
You have probably noticed that the last couple of newsletters have had a "From My Heart" attachment from Pastor Bob. Please take a moment to read them and give them some thought. Also this weeks edition explains the upcoming 50 day Spiritual Journey that Tapestry will be going on together between Easter and Pentecost this year so be sure to read it.

CELEBRATING MORE ROWING
We are rejoicing that another leader has chosen to pick up an oar! Binyam Asress has stepped forward to be the team leader for our children's ministry. How exciting it is to see the number of folks who are stepping up to grab an oar to help Tapestry get where God wants to take us. Thank you Binyam for listening to God's call to this vital ministry! We are blessed to have you in our midst. - What "oar" does God want YOU to grab?
SYC - SUMMER YOUTH CELEBRATION
Parents of teens, be sure to mark up your calendar and keep the following week open as our youth will be attending SYC, a fantastic summer camp hosted by the CNBC. There will be more details to come, but we do know it will be July 19-24th (Junior High week), and cost is $195.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE IN HAITI AND CHILI WITH CNBC - Many individuals and churches have expressed interest in volunteering as part of the Haiti relief effort. The following are some opportunities that have become available in the coming months. Space is limited for each opportunity, so please reply quickly if you are interested.

BAPTIST GLOBAL RESPONSE
Baptist Global Response (BGR) is beginning to send volunteer clean-up and medical teams to Haiti.

May 22-29, 2010 Clean-up Team
BGR is looking for a Clean-up Team of 8-10 individuals to arrive Sat, May 22 and depart Sat, May 29. If your church is interested in sending individuals to fill most or all of this team, please contact Peter Blackaby pblackaby@cnbc.ca. Team members must be Christians and will be responsible for their own expenses including flight into Port-au-Prince (approx $1000 CAD) and on site food ($30 USD per person per day). On the ground transportation and logistics is provided. Teams will be tenting in a secure compound near the airport.

Additional Opportunities – Medical & Clean-up Teams
BGR is recruiting individuals to join existing Medical teams (doctors, nurses/ EMT, and chaplains) and Clean-up teams through the months of April and May. If your church has a few people or even one individual interested in joining one of these teams, please contact Peter Blackaby pblackaby@cnbc.ca. Individuals must be Christians and will be responsible for their own expenses including flight into Port-au-Prince (approx $1000 CAD) and on site food ($30 USD per day). STUDENTS THROUGH INTERNATIONAL MISSION BOARD International Mission Board has created opportunities for students to serve on two week teams in Haiti this summer. DISASTER RELIEF In the coming seasons, regional Disaster Relief Units may be sending teams to Haiti in the rebuild phase of response. Individuals responding through Disaster Relief will need basic training or higher. They are in need of volunteers (14+ years) to help run games and activities, face painting and operating the popcorn machine. Our involvement in the past has been greatly appreciated by the staff at the club, so plan to come and meet some new people, and trust that God will open doors to share the true meaning of Easter!

YOUTH - GAMES NIGHT
So, like, the last couple, like, activities have, like, been totally, like, AWESOME! Due to the, like, no sleep however, the youth, like, thought they should, like, take a bit of a reprieve. The leaders were, like, totally ready to go skydiving after, like, some all-night Sumo wrestling, but, like, the teens, were, like, not down with that. Leaders were, like, bummed. So, they will instead have a, like, quite, serene, and totally relaxing games night this Friday, the 19th at 6:00, at the Genn's home. Call Josh or Kelly Genn, Curtis Bestard, or Erin Hertzsprung to arrange for a ride, and cost is, like, totally free......dudes! Oh, and you can, like, bring a game that you like, totally like.

FRIDAY NIGHT PRAYER
Everyone is invited for Friday Night Prayer this Friday, March 19th at 7:00 pm at Max & Lynda's place (37 Tuscany Springs Circle). Afterward, we'll enjoy hanging out....a round of Settlers may even break out.
Just a reminder for you schedule type personalities, Friday night Prayer is at the Blazina's on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month, and at the Miller's home in Cochrane the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month.

This week, please pray for Sophie Worden, and the Yeo family (Steve, Tracey, Victoria, Nicholas, and Leroy). As well, please remember the Weynschenk family as they travel to BC to be with Gordon's mom. She is undergoing surgery for breast cancer, and doctors have also found cancer in her bones.  Another request is to remember Dennis Fahner, Lisa Snyman's dad. We rejoice at God's miraculous healing to this point, and pray for him as he faces upcoming surgery for multiple skull fractures. CARING FOR THE VEDOYA FAMILY - WAY TO GO!
Meg Vedoya, expecting their fourth child in 4 weeks, has been put on bed rest by her doctor because of pre-term labour concerns. Obviously, this has put extra weight on Jay and the rest of the family. Jay has left work to take care of the family and home, on top of attending classes (which hasn't left a whole lot of time for schoolwork!).

With some organizing from Steve Rathje, Joyce Poon, and Lauren Miller there has been a great response and all the dates have been filled! God is good!

YOUTH
The youth will be having a retreat this weekend, March 5-7. Guaranteed non-stop fun! Games, food, music and worship, not to mention plenty of surprises! We will be meeting at the CNBC mission house (Cochrane seminary) at 7:00 pm Friday night, and will be back for church Sunday morning. Please bring: sleeping bag, pillow, bible, outdoor clothes (that can get DIRTY), boots, Wii games, board games, musical instruments, a friend, and anything else you would bring for a sleep-over. Cost is $45. Please let Josh, Kelly, Curtis or Erin know if you are coming and if you are bringing any friends.

Also, on March 12, we'll be joining some other youth groups for the HITMEN GAME at the 'Dome! We're going to do a huge all-nighter complete with the hockey game, some rollerblading and a movie! Details to follow.

Child Care - The Vedoyas are in need of childcare for Kanon from 9:30-11:30 am every weekday except Thursdays and care for Lisa, Aily and Kanon from 3:30 - 5:30 pm every Monday & Wednesday.  It would be extremely helpful if those doing childcare can sign up as a "regular" (i.e. take every Monday, or every other Monday afternoon, etc.). GOD STORY ON PROVISION?
Do you have a God Story of how the Lord provided for you during a time of need? If so, please get in touch with Steve. The focus of the message this coming Sunday is on God's provision and it would be great to hear how the Lord has demonstrated his faithfulness to those in our church family.

DISASTER RELIEF TRAINING
The Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC) is offering a Basic Disaster Relief Training session in Calgary this Saturday, Feb. 27 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at Richmond Hill Baptist Church (lunch is provided). Upon completion of the training, you will be certified to go as part of a disaster relief team with the CNBC. To register, contact the church office at 403-242-1256 or office@richmondhillbaptist.com. There is no fee for this training, but participants are asked to register ahead of time in order for the trainers and coordinators to be adequately prepared for numbers. If you register, please let Steve know; maybe a group can car pool and go together.

CARING FOR THE VEDOYA FAMILY - URGENT HELP NEEDED!
Meg Vedoya, expecting their fourth child in 6 weeks, has been put on bed rest by her doctor because of pre-term labour concerns. Obviously, this has put extra weight on Jay and the rest of the family. Jay has left work to take care of the family and home, on top of attending classes (which hasn't left a whole lot of time for schoolwork!). Meg's mom is flying in from Japan to help, but cannot be here until March 31. As their church family, we want to come alongside to bless and help them in the following ways:

Meal Sign Up - We're looking for people who will sign up to provide a meal (or two, given the unusually long time frame) over the next month. Please contact Joyce Poon at 403-709-0300 or by email at joyce.s.poon@gmail.com. If you are unable to get your meal to the Vedoyas in Cochrane, arrangements can be made for your meal to be picked up. Another option is to make frozen meals and bring them to church on Sunday and someone will look after delivering them during the week.

LEADERSHIP RECOMMENDATIONS
Just a reminder that there will be a vote by our church membership after the service this coming Sunday, Feb. 21 on Bob Shelton assuming the role of Lead Pastor (Lead Elder) of Tapestry and the nominations of Glenn Watson and Steve Rathje to serve new 3-year terms as Elders. Please prayerfully consider these recommendations. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk with any of our current Elders (Max Blazina, Steve Rathje, Thom Gordon) before Sunday, and/or feel free to talk with Bob about how he feels God has been leading him to make himself available to serve in this way.

GOD STORY ON PROVISION?
Do you have a God Story of how the Lord provided for you during a time of physical, emotional or spiritual need? If so, please get in touch with Steve. The focus of an upcoming message is on God's provision and it would be great to hear how the Lord has demonstrated his faithfulness to those in our church family.

DISASTER RELIEF TRAINING
The Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC) is offering a Basic Disaster Relief Training session in Calgary on Saturday, Feb. 27 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at Richmond Hill Baptist Church (lunch is provided). Upon completion of the training, you will be certified to go as part of a disaster relief team with the CNBC. To register, contact the church office at 403-242-1256 or office@richmondhillbaptist.com. There is no fee for this training, but participants are asked to register ahead of time in order for the trainers and coordinators to be adequately prepared for numbers. If you register, please let Steve know; maybe a group of us can car pool and go together.

FRIDAY NIGHT PRAYER IN COCHRANE
Many in our church sense God is stirring the hearts of His people and there is anticipation for all He has in store. If you're in Cochrane, come join us for a time of seeking Him together in prayer this Friday, Feb. 12 at 6:00 pm at David & Lauren Miller's place (2 Seminary Ridge, Cochrane). Everyone is welcome!

YOUTH
This Friday is...wait for it...VALENTINE'S WITH DAVERS! All of the young ladies of Tapestry (boys are welcome too, of course!) and their friends are invited to come out for some Valentine's Day fun. Everyone will be participating in some friendly competition to try and win the affections of Tapestry Youth's most eligible bachelor! Meet at the Gordon's place at 6:00 pm with your game face on. Don't forget your bathing suit!

Mark your calendars! There will be a YOUTH RETREAT on Friday, March 5 to Sunday, March 7. Location and cost to be determined, but there are a bunch of fun activities, challenges, bible studies and great meals planned. More details to follow.

CEILIDH
We're having another another Ceilidh (pronounced "caylee"), a Scottish group dance, this Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 pm at the Tuscany Club. There will be a small charge (dependent on how many sign up) to cover the room rental - likely around $5 per person or $10 per family. Ceilidhs are very energetic, so don't dress too warmly and wear sensible shoes. Also, please bring either a drink or a snack to share. We have an immediate need for someone to give leadership to our Children's Ministry (Grade School) program. After faithfully serving as our Children's Ministry Coordinator for some time, Khara Tait feels it's time she step back and focus her energies elsewhere. We are so appreciative of all she has done to give leadership to this vital ministry. Thanks Khara!!! Alice Gigi Genn, was born on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 11:48 pm, weighing in at 8lbs 4 oz, 21 inches in length. It was great to meet her at church on Sunday - she is already a much loved member of our church family! We want to come alongside the Genn family and bless them with some meals during this time of transition. LEADERSHIP RECOMMENDATIONS
As discussed at our Congregational Meeting last Sunday evening, the Elders are recommending Bob Shelton assume the role of Lead Pastor (Lead Elder) of Tapestry. Bob has been a committed, integral member of Tapestry for the last four years and active in ministry for over 40 years. He has served as a youth pastor, associate pastor, lead pastor and denominational leader. He currently serves as the Associate National Ministry Leader with the Canadian National Baptist Convention, a position he will continue to hold. In his own words, his life purpose is "to partner with my family and others to enjoy the journey with Jesus, stay the course and finish well." God has stirred Bob's heart to make himself available to serve in this way, and we feel he possesses the heart, character, gifts and experience that fit well with the kind of leader we need at this point in Tapestry's story. As our Lead Pastor, Bob will:

Articulate vision for Tapestry
Work closely with our leaders and provide quarterly leadership training events
Work with ministry leaders and seek to build ministry teams for each area
Mentor Elders and other Leaders-in-Training
Preach at least once per month
Have an active presence in our church services when present
Other responsibilities as assigned by the church

A vote on this recommendation will be held after church on Sunday, Feb. 21. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact any one of our Elders (Max Blazina, Steve Rathje, Thom Gordon) prior to this date, and/or feel free to talk with Bob about how he feels God has been leading him.

In addition, we are pleased to recommend the following changes to our Elders Team, also to be affirmed by the church membership on Feb. 21:

New Elder: Glenn Watson. Glenn and his wife Sherri have been committed members of Tapestry for the past 2.5 years. Glenn is a former pastor, served as a missionary in Portugal for 10 years and is currently Professor of Preaching and Pastoral Ministries at the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane. He is an active member of our preaching and worship teams and, along with Sherri, has partnered with the Millers in their downtown church planting efforts. We are excited at what Glenn would bring to the role of Elder at Tapestry.
"New" Elder: Steve Rathje. Steve has been serving as our Lead Elder for the past 2 years while in the Pastor role. Even though he is stepping down from the Pastor/Lead Elder role, we would like to recommend to the church that he continue to serve as an Elder of Tapestry as we feel he has much to offer as one of our leaders.
Stepping Down: Thom Gordon. After faithfully serving for over 2 years, Thom feels his time and energies should be devoted to other ministries within Tapestry and will therefore be transitioning out of the Elder role. We wish to thank Thom for his dedication in serving the Lord and our church in this way.
Max Blazina will continue to serve as an Elder at Tapestry to finish out his 3-year term, scheduled to end in November this year. Max has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving the Lord at Tapestry and we are so thankful and blessed to have him as one of our leaders.

In summary, if affirmed by the church our new Elders Team will be comprised of Bob Shelton (Lead Elder), Max Blazina (continuing in his 3-year term), Glenn Watson (new 3-year term) and Steve Rathje (new 3-year term). These changes will allow us to stagger our Elder's 3-year terms, as well as provide continuity and stability to our church leadership. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with Max Blazina before the vote on Feb. 21.

NEW MINISTRY LEADERS
Also announced at our meeting on Sunday, we are excited to have some new ministry leaders in place at Tapestry:

Lynda Blazina will be serving as our new Director of Worship. Lynda will provide vision, direction and oversight to Tapestry's worship ministry so that it can be the best it can be for the glory of God. Thanks Lynda!
Evan Hertzsprung will be serving as our new Small Group Ministry Leader. Evan has had a passion for small group ministry for many years and is excited to take a more active leadership role in this area at Tapestry. He will be the "point" person to oversee the vital small group ministry, including training and equipping of leaders.

WHAT'S YOUR MINISTRY?
As evidenced by the above announcements, there are a number of exciting changes taking place within our church and we look toward the future with a sense of anticipation for all that God has in store. It's also a reminder that each of us has a place, a purpose, a role to fill in being a part of what God wants to do in and through our church for His Kingdom. What's your ministry? Not only are you needed, but serving is an important part of connecting more deeply as part of God's family and growing as a follower of Jesus. If you're ever feeling disconnected and/or that you're not growing, ask yourself "How am I using my gifts and abilities to help Tapestry achieve its purpose?"

As a church, we want to provide a safe place where you can explore your calling and discover who God has made you to be. There are an endless number of opportunities for you to jump in and get involved, including Children's Ministry, Nursery, Worship, Sound/Tech, Set-up, Leading a Small Group, Communication, Administration, Prayer, Outreach, Missions...you get the idea! Where does God want you to serve? To explore the possibilities, talk to any of our current Elders (Bob, Max, Steve or Thom). "All of you together are Christ's body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it." (1 Corinthians 12:27)

FRIDAY NIGHT PRAYER
Prayer is one of the five core practices that define what we do at Tapestry. Because we believe in the importance of prayer, and to make it more feasible for those living in Cochrane, we're going to expand our Friday night prayer times as follows...

We'll continue to meet at Max & Lynda's place (37 Tuscany Springs Circle) for prayer on the 1st and 3rd Friday each month. Join us this Friday, January 15 at 7:00 pm for prayer and the Lord's Supper. Afterward, we'll enjoy hanging out.

David & Lauren Miller will also host a prayer gathering at their place in Cochrane (2 Seminary Ridge) on the 2nd and 4th Friday each month, starting next Friday, Jan. 22 at 6:00 pm.

You're encouraged to join the group closest to you as often as you can. It's an important time of seeking the Lord together. "Prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge to Satan." (John Bunyan)

SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
John Mains, Program Director at the Tuscany Club, has asked whether anyone from Tapestry would be available to help out at the community open house this coming Satruday, Dec. 19 from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at the Club. He's short on staff and looking for a few people who can help with the kids craft area, the snacks/treats table and just socialize with the residents who come out. This is a great opportunity to serve our community! If you can help, please contact Steve as soon as possible.

YOUTH
This Friday, Dec. 18 the youth are having a big, extravagant, most awesome mall hunt ever! Bring every friend you have to Market Mall at 7:00 pm (we'll meet at the entrance by Starbucks). Disguised volunteers are needed who the youth will be trying to find. It's a great way to have some fun, do some of your Christmas shopping and help out the youth. This Friday, Dec. 11 the youth are having a Christmas Party, including a fondue dinner and good ol' fashioned gift exchange. Bring something (wrapped) you already have around the house - just make sure your parents are OK with it (i.e. you can't give away your little brother!). Next Friday, Dec. 18 we're having a big, extravagant, most awesome mall hunt ever! Bring every friend you have to Market Mall at 7:00 pm (we'll meet at the entrance by Starbucks). Disguised volunteers are needed who the youth will be trying to find. It's a great way to have some fun, do some of your Christmas shopping and help out the youth. CHRISTMAS CAROL SING - THIS FRIDAY!
Tapestry is sponsoring an old-fashioned Christmas Carol Sing for the community this Friday, Dec. 4, 6:30 pm at the Tuscany Club (outside). After carolling around Tuscany, we'll gather around the fire for some hot chocolate, apple cider, popcorn and roasted marshmallows. The grounds at the Club are all decked out with lights, so it should be a great way to kick off the holiday season. Plan to come for the fun and invite your friends and neighbors to join you!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD - REMINDER
Just a reminder to bring your gift-filled Operation Christmas Child shoe box to church this Sunday, November 22.  A big "Thanks!" to Janet Napady who has volunteered to deliver Tapestry's shoe boxes to Samaritan's Purse.

MISSIONS SUNDAY
This coming Sunday, the focus at church will be on missions. A special missions offering will be taken in support of the "Canadians on Mission" program. FREE CONCERT - Tonight!
Richmond Hill Baptist Church is hosting a GMA (Gospel Music Association of Canada) showcase concert tonight at 7:00pm. The concert is for all ages and is FREE! See the attached poster for more information. After the concert, they are hosting a special time of fellowship for College and Career age students so that the various groups of students from across the city can connect with each other.

"SURVIVAL KIT" STUDY - Starts This Week!
Being a follower of Jesus is far more than simply trusting Christ for salvation. You know it's true, but how do you grow spiritually, live out your faith and be a "survivor" in your walk with God? Survival Kit will help you learn principles that are foundational to your spiritual growth, such as:

Developing habits, attitudes and commitments that ensure growth
Being part of the Body of Christ
Learning to deal with your inner conflict with sin
Resolving doubts about your experience with Christ
Finding a dependable authority for discovering truth and making decisions
Learning to share your faith effectively

AFTER SCHOOL KID'S CLUB???
Tapestry is prayerfully considering running an after school kid's club (for K-6) called Awana. Awana is a fun, Christ-centered program that inspires kids to learn what it means to be a follower of Jesus through games, activities, music, scripture memorization, special events and awards. It would not only be a great program for Tapestry's kids, but provide a powerful way to connect with families in our community and touch their hearts for Jesus. However, to offer a program like this requires a team of committed volunteers. To help gauge interest, a brief meeting will be held at church after church this Sunday for all those who: a) would be interested in having their kids participate, and b) would be interested in volunteering. If you can't make the meeting but are interested in being a part of a potential Awana program or for more information, please contact Kim Pangracs at kirachel@shaw.ca.

DOING LIFE TOGETHER

SPIRITUAL RENEWAL WEEK
The Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane would like to invite you to attend their annual Spiritual Emphasis Week. We're having another ceilidh (pronounced 'caylee') - a Scottish dance similar to square dancing - on Friday, July 10 at Cathy & Ted's place (90 Huggard Rd, Calgary), which is out in Springbank. Bring some munchies or a dessert to share and something to drink. Things will get underway around 7:00 pm. Everyone is welcome!

Dust off yer cowboy hat, shine up 'em boots, slap on a Tapestry t-shirt and join in the fun! Nursery Volunteers Needed - We will continue to offer nursery for the summer, but are looking for stand-in volunteers in order to give our regular nursery workers a break. If you don't normally help with nursery, here's your chance to give yourself away and serve the young families and visitors in our church by stepping up to volunteer for a Sunday. Just a reminder that beginning this coming Sunday, June 28, we'll be back at the Tuscany Club for our worship services for the summer.

END-OF-YEAR WRAP-UP CELEBRATION

When? - This Sunday, June 28, 10:30 am at the Tuscany Club (downstairs/outside). This will replace our regular worship service.
What will we do? - An informal get-together to hang out, eat, share God Stories and celebrate the end of another year of ministry. Closer to noon, we'll eat together.
What should I bring? - Food for your family (ready-made, unless you want to take a chance on being able to use one of the BBQ/grills on the Club grounds; if so, you'll also need to bring some wood), an extra food item to share (salad, side dish, dessert), lawn chairs, games, etc. Hopefully, the weather will be good and we can be outside. You'll also have an opportunity to share about God's faithfulness and/or working over the last year, so come prepared to share your God Story!

CHANGES TO OUR CONSTITUTION
We took a few minutes after the service last week to review, discuss and vote on proposed changes to our Constitution. The changes are in keeping with recommendations from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) related to our application to become a registered charity. If you missed the meeting or want to review the amendments in more detail, please click here to access a copy. As discussed at the meeting, the proposed amendments will be reviewed with CRA. If no further changes are made to what we voted on last week, a second vote to adopt the changes will take place on Sunday, July 26 following the service. In Edmonton, June 30 - July 2 (next week). A great opportunity to connect with others from Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC) churches across Canada for worship, celebration and training. Amazing programs for children and youth, combined with great sessions covering a variety of areas for ministry and spiritual growth make this an event for the whole family. We have at least six people who have decided to take the next step in their walk with Jesus by following Him in believer's baptism. Come celebrate with them and show your support! SOWING SEEDS
Just a reminder that each week at church we'll ask if anyone has had an opportunity to sow any "seeds" by sharing the gospel or their story. If you've had an opportunity to sow a seed but miss church that week, just let Steve know and he'll make sure you get included in our weekly totals. Since May, Tapestry has sown 29 seeds and seen two people come to know Jesus!

Cambrian Heights Baptist Church in NW Calgary is undergoing a major reconstruction project this summer - building a new sanctuary through remodelling and adding to their existing building. The project runs June through August and is facilitated by the CNBC Construction Ministry. Volunteers are still urgently needed for most weeks this summer. BAPTISM SERVICE & BBQ
Next Sunday is a special day in the life of our church family! Everyone is invited to Thom & Lorie Gordon's on Sunday, June 21 at 3:00 pm for a baptism service and BBQ. Please bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share, and a lawn chair. We have at least six people who have decided to take the next step in their walk with Jesus by following Him in believer's baptism. Come celebrate with them and show your support!

GOD STORIES
As Marilyn reminded us on Sunday, God is at work all around us - we just need our eyes opened to see the amazing things He is doing. Sharing God Stories has always been an important part of life at Tapestry. Hearing how God is at work among us not only gives Him glory, but it's a tremendous encouragement to others and builds our faith as we follow Jesus together. What's your God Story? It may be an answer to prayer, a opportunity you had to share your faith, a surprise blessing, or some other way God has shown Himself faithful to you. Nothing is too "small" to share; if it's important to you, it's important to us! Please let Marilyn Rathje know about your God Story and we'll make sure you are given an opportunity to share.

ON MISSION IN RUPERT
Josh and Khara leave on Friday for Prince Rupert, BC where they are leading a team in ministry for the next couple of weeks. Please remember to pray for them as they travel to/from Prince Rupert, as they reconnect with people they built relationships with last year, and as they seek to love and serve the community in Jesus' name.

Kurt & Sarah Gullacher and their family are moving to Okotoks this weekend and could use some help. They're looking for help loading the truck on Friday evening, May 29 around 6:00 pm (pizza supper provided!) and then with unloading at their new place in Okotoks on Saturday. We're offering some evangelism training this Saturday, May 30 from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm in the chapel at the seminary in Cochrane. We'll talk about our fears related to evangelism, how to tell our stories and methods for sharing the gospel. If you plan to come and haven't yet signed up, please contact Steve. SOWING SEEDS
As a follow-up to the Action 52 evangelism message a couple of weeks ago, we're going to track how we're doing as a church with sharing the Good News about Jesus. When you plant a seed by sharing your faith, let Steve know and we'll add it to the total. Also, just a reminder to be praying for your friends, neighbors and family members who don't yet know the Lord. It's amazing what happens when we begin to pray for the lost and ask God to open doors to share the gospel. It will be exciting to see what God does as we're faithful to pray and share!

This Friday, the youth will be attending the High Valley concert at Bow Valley Baptist Church in Cochrane. The concert starts at 7:00 pm and is a fundraiser for Disaster Relief. There is no charge, but cash donations will be accepted at the door for those wishing to contribute. Anyone needing a ride should contact Janis Litorco at 403-669-4884.

UNDERSTANDING AND APPLYING THE BIBLE - THIS WEEKEND!
We are committed as a church family to loving, learning and living the Bible. Because of this, we want every member of our community to have the opportunity to learn how to accurately interpret the Scriptures and to faithfully apply them to everyday life. "Understanding and Applying the Bible" is just such an opportunity. In eight hours of teaching, you will learn basic principles of studying the Bible, including how to investigate the background of a passage in the Bible, analyze its language and structure, and translate its meaning into daily life. ART EXHIBIT & CONCERT
Rosalba Morean of Tapestry will be showcasing some of her art pieces at the 5th annual "Celebration of the Arts" at the Rozsa Centre at the University of Calgary (Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall) on Saturday, April 25. This Friday, April 17 we'll going to the Gordon's place for a fun night of "Bunco". We will meet there at 6:00 PM and have dinner together. Cost $5.

MISSION MEETING
As announced previously, we have an opportunity to continue developing a relationship with the Hanthorns in Ft. McPherson, NWT by helping them with their church building project this July. UNDERSTANDING AND APPLYING THE BIBLE
At Tapestry, we are committed to loving, learning and living the Bible. Because of this, we want every member of our community to have the opportunity to learn how to accurately interpret the Scriptures and to faithfully apply them to everyday life. "Understanding and Applying the Bible" is just such an opportunity. In eight hours of teaching, you will learn basic principles of studying the Bible, including how to investigate the background of a passage in the Bible, analyze its language and structure, and translate its meaning into daily life. These skills can serve you well as a small group leader, Bible teacher, lay preacher, in your own personal study, or just sharing with friends. GETTING TO KNOW OUR LEADERS
This week, we'll learn more about Max Blazina who serves as one of Tapestry's elders:

Born: Calgary, AB
A little about Max: For the last 21 years Max has lived in NW Calgary, and finds it odd that he never intended to live there in the first place. While working for Canadian Airlines and travelling about, he met the woman of his dreams and being instantly smitten, Lynda and Max were blissfully married and continued to explore the world. Before long, Max started to put down roots and bought a house, started a career as an electrician, and acquired domestic items such as furniture and a clothes washer. Scattered in that time were the births of his 3 fantastic kids: Ryshon, Christian and Tryse. Max has always known God's call to serve in the church wherever there has been a need. Opportunities in youth ministry, small group leader, mission trips, and men's ministry have been used by God to not only to allow Max to use his gifts to serve the church but also to learn, grow, and open his heart to the Spirit's teaching. Max is so thankful to be a part of Tapestry, and desires to see every person in the church have a deeper, stronger relationship with the God who loves us all more than we know.

MISSION OPPORTUNITY!
We have an opportunity to continue developing a relationship with the Hanthorn family who serve above the Arctic Circle in Ft. McPherson, NWT. This July, they are building a church in their community and they're looking for 60 volunteers to help with the project. If there is sufficient interest, Tapestry would love to send a team to be part of the effort. Most of the ticketed trades positions are filled, but they still need framers, drywallers, tapers and a bunch of other willing and able workers. We may also be able to help run a VBS or be involved in other community outreach while others help with the actual building of the church.

Plans are to start the church building project on Monday, July 21 and it should take roughly a week to complete. Opportunities for some "tourist" activities (flights to the Arctic Ocean, tour of Tuktoyaktuk, whale watching over the Baltic Sea, etc...) could be organized following completion of the project. Cost per person will depend on how the team from Tapestry made their way to Ft. McPherson.

If you're interested in exploring the opportunity further, please let Steve Rathje or Kim Pangracs know as soon as possible. In the meantime, please remember the project and Tapestry's possible involvement before the Lord in prayer.

SCOTTISH DANCE
The Hertzsprung small group is hosting a ceilidh (pronounced 'caylee') this Friday, March 27 at 7:30 pm at the seminary in Cochrane. A ceilidh is a Scottish dance, similar to square dancing. Everyone is welcome! Wear comfortable shoes and clothes (you'll get warm!) and bring along drinks or a snack to share.

Born: Portsmouth, Virginia
A little about Bob: I grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois. I did not attend church much but in my teen years started going to church to play on the basketball team. Through the prayers and love of those folks I became a Christ follower. It's hard to believe that was 40 years ago. My current ministry assignment besides serving as an elder at Tapestry is working as the National Team Leader for Church Strengthening with the Canadian National Baptist Convention. My great passion is to encourage and develop the next generation of leaders. My hearts desire is to leave a legacy of faith to my children and grandchildren. Deb and I have been married for 36 years. We have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. The purpose of my life is to help my family and others to enjoy the journey with Jesus, stay the course and finish well.

A key point: Three themes that run throughout the book of Acts are: (1) Christians are those who are filled with the Spirit and are Spirit-driven; (2) Christians are those who have an evangelistic ministry, whose preaching is Christ-centered; and (3) Christians are those who live in community, who are community-nurtured.
For further reflection: How can we surrender our lives to the Holy Spirit and let him control and direct our lives? What is the gospel message which we preach? How did the early church demonstrate community-nurtured living? How can we do the same?

Born: Edmonton, Alberta
A little about Thom: Thom has been an engineer and computer professional for over 30 years. Thom and his wife, Lorie, have 5 fabulous children and 5 wonderful grandchildren so far (another is due later in 2009). They spent 13 years in the Middle East where Thom learned what the love of God feels like when the going gets tough. Living in a Middle Eastern culture helped put the Bible into perspective in a profound way. Since he was a child, Thom was never satisfied with the world's answers. His wife Lorie helped him discover that Christ is clearly the answer he sought. Thom has developed a profound love for Christ, who best personifies why God created us and who He is in our lives. Thom is still a work in progress, trying to find ways to thank God for the unbelievable gift he gave to us in Christ Jesus.

Born: Norman, Oklahoma
A little about Steve: For many years, Steve had a stirring in his heart for greater ministry involvement. After working in Human Resources for many years, God opened a door for Steve to serve as pastor at Tapestry early in 2008. With no formal bible college or seminary training, Steve is humbled to serve in this way - an example that "God doesn't necessarily call the qualified, but qualifies the called." He and his wife Marilyn have been married for 17 years and are the proud parents of three great kids: Sara, Jana and Jonah. Steve's passion is seeing people hunger for and experience an authentic, personal and growing relationship with Jesus.

LEARNING ABOUT MORMONISM

Tapestry is hosting an "Understanding Mormonism" session on Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 pm at the Tuscany Club. The session will be led by Dr. James Walker, a former fourth generation Mormon and renowned expert on the faith. WALK THRU THE OLD TESTAMENT
The "Walk Thru the OT" Seminar is interactive, fun, and super informative. You will learn the key 77 people, places and events of the Old Testament and be able to remember and recite them in chronological order in less than 5 minutes.  The seminar is being held at Richmond Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, March 7 (9:00 am - 4:00 pm). Cost is $25 per person or $60 per family and covers the seminar, book, lunch and childcare (provided for children grade 1 and under). To register, call Richmond Hill church office at 403-242-1256. Registration deadline is March 1.

Prayer is one of the practices that define who we are as a community of faith, and therefore we set aside the first and third Friday of every month to pray together. The evening session at Tapestry is being held in conjunction with an "Understanding Mormonism" missions event being put on by the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane on March 3-6 (10:00 - 11:15 am each day). On Tuesday, March 3, a Mormon representative will be sharing about "their faith" and then Dr Walker will speak the following days in response and talk in greater detail about what Mormonism is. MEALS FOR THE POONS
Calvin & Joyce Poon welcomed a little baby girl, Aubrey, into their family on January 28! As their friends and church family, we would like to bless them with meals during this time of transition into parenthood. NICK'S 30-HOUR FAMINE
Nick Melazzo is joining a bunch of his student friends from the University of Calgary in World Vision's 30 Hour Famine, and he needs your help to raise some cash for people who live in places without food or clean water. Movie Event
From the creators of Facing the Giants (a great movie, if you haven't seen it), comes a new movie called FIREPROOF. It is an action-packed love story about a firefighter, his wife and a marriage worth rescuing. This powerful movie opens dialogue about conflict resolution, the differences between men and women, pornography, forgiveness and, most importantly, the need for God's love.

Tapestry is showing FIREPROOF on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 pm at the Tuscany Club. This is a great opportunity to touch not only relationships in our church, but also as a way to reach out to families in our community and let them know we're here to help them build strong families. We plan to follow-up the movie event with a one-day marriage seminar in March that provides practical help, hope and encouragement in fireproofing our marriages.

Small Groups
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...All the believers were together and had everything in common...Every day they continued to meet together...They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts...And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved (Acts 2:42-47).

Small groups are a great place where this kind of "life together" can be experienced within the context of loving, real relationships. Tapestry has a number of small groups that meet throughout the week, both in Calgary and Cochrane. If you're not currently a part of a small group, you should be! It's a safe place to live out our values of GOD (delighting in God as we follow after Jesus); PEOPLE (doing life together as we give ourselves away); SCRIPTURE (loving, learning and living out God's Word); and TRANSFORMATION (becoming more and more in every way like Jesus). Men's Gathering
The guys are invited for a night of hot tubbing, games, foosball, x-box 360, etc. this Friday, Jan. 30. Bring some munchies and meet at Thom Gordon's (59 Church Ranches Blvd NW) around 7:00 pm. Baby on the Way!
Calvin & Joyce Poon are expecting their baby to arrive any day! As a church, we want to come alongside them and help out with meals as they transition to this new phase of life. A meal sign-up sheet will be available at church on Sunday, or you can call/email Abbie Macdonald (403-851-1054) to sign-up. Since they live in Cochrane, frozen meals can be brought to church and Abbie will ensure they are delivered to Calvin and Joyce. On the Move!
As communicated last week, Tapestry is moving! As of Sunday, February 1, we will meet at Tuscany School (990 Tuscany Drive) at 10:30 am for our Sunday morning worship services and children's programs. This is another milestone in the story of Tapestry and it's exciting to think what God may have in store as we begin this new chapter of following Jesus together! Please keep our church in prayer during this transition, as there are many details and logistical considerations to iron out.

Upcoming Study - Who is Jesus?
One time, Jesus asked His disciples, "Who do the crowds say I am?" He then asked them, "What about you? Who do you say I am?" (Luke 15:18,20) And what did Jesus have to say about Himself? Josh Tait is leading a four-week study that will take a closer look at the answers to these questions. Things get underway this Sunday, Jan. 25 at 6:30 pm (note time change) at the Tuscany Club and continue on Feb. 1, 8 & 15. Whether you're exploring the Christian faith, a new Christian, or have walked with God for many years, this is a great opportunity to take a fresh look at who Jesus is. Important News - We're Moving!
Tapestry has worked hard to build a strong, positive relationship with the Tuscany Club for the past several years and the facility has served us well. God has been good! However, because of continued growth, we are starting to feel tight on space. After much discussion and prayer, the elders felt it was time we explored moving to another venue. We are pleased to announce that as of Sunday, February 1, Tapestry Church will now meet at Tuscany School (990 Tuscany Drive) at 10:30 am for our Sunday morning worship services and children's programs.

We will miss many things about being at the Club and will continue to seek to be an integral part of the community events they sponsor. However, we feel having more space on a consistent basis will help us in our efforts to reach out to our community with the love and message of Jesus. Prayer Chain

You will then receive prayer items that our church family has requested us to pray for. This is one great way to live out the Scripture "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6)

Adopt-a-Family Update
The Hanthorn Family received our Christmas care package and have passed along their heartfelt appreciation and thanks. "Awesome", "Wow" and "Incredible" were some of the adjectives they used to describe the gifts we sent. In Lynn's words, "We were absolutely thrilled and even overwhelmed with your generosity and love...moved to tears actually." A Christmas Messsage

On that first Christmas many years ago, the angel proclaimed, Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:10-11). May this enduring message of hope from the night of our dear Savior's birth give you peace, comfort and joy - especially in these uncertain times.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the season, I encourage you to reflect on what Jesus' coming means for us. It truly is good news of great joy for all people! Just think...no matter who we are, what we have done or how often we stray, all of us can come freely into the presence of a holy God because of Christ's sacrifice upon the cross. Through faith in Jesus, we have freedom, forgiveness for all our sins, and the incredible privilege of knowing the God of the universe who loves us with an everlasting love. We were once far away, but have been brought near through the precious blood of Christ. We have the hope and assurance of spending eternity with Him. And He offers rest to all who are feeling weary and burdened, to all who will come unto Him. What amazing love! O come let us adore Him!

My family and I extend to you and yours a heartfelt "Merry Christmas!" I pray that in 2009, "Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in Him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love. And may you have power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God." THANK YOU Tapestry! With your generous support, we were able to bless the Hanthorn Family with a care package overflowing with gifts! Pray that our gifts will be an encouragement and blessing to the Hanthorns and a reminder that they are not alone in their ministry efforts in the far north.

Holiday Stress?
The Christmas season is supposed to be (and can truly be) the most wonderful time of the year. However, it can often leave us feeling stressed and weary as we try to juggle the seemingly endless demands on our time, energy and money. The Bible tells us to "carry each other's burdens" (Galatians 6:2) - something we truly want to live out as a church family. If you find yourself feeling burdened, don't face it alone! Share with a friend, one of the elders, or with Steve so we can support, encourage and pray for you. And ask God to help you keep things simple and focused on the real reason for the season: Jesus!

Help Needed!
Thom Gordon is looking for some help this Saturday to move our excess sound equipment out of his garage into the loft above his garage. The work detail will start around noon, but if anyone shows up early (anytime after 9:00 am) they can help him clean the loft to make room for the equipment. Christmas Party This Week!
A last minute reminder about our church family Christmas party this Friday from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at the Tuscany Club.  If you didn't get a chance to sign-up, it's not too late! Shoebox Collection Sunday!
If you and your family have packed a gift-filled shoebox for Operation Christmas Child, please bring your box to church this Sunday. The Tapestry team volunteering at the Samaritan's Purse warehouse on Thursday next week will take the boxes with them.

Adopt-a-Family
Once again this year, Tapestry is adopting a family for Christmas! Paul and Lynn Hanthorn and their seven children serve above the Arctic Circle in Ft. McPherson, NWT. Paul and Lynn have been up north as church planting missionaries for 17 years, seeking to love, serve and reach their community for Christ.

Tapestry wants to bless and encourage the Hanthorn family by providing a Christmas care package full of gifts and practical items. A sign-up sheet of things the family needs and/or would like will be available at church on Sunday.  If you'd prefer to contribute toward the care package with a financial gift, you can give through our regular offering - just designate your gift "Adopt-a-Family". Host a Japanese Exchange Student
Jay and Meg Vedoya are setting up an ESL (English as a Second Language) homestay program for this winter and are looking for a few host families for Japanese students. For now, they need one host family in Calgary (Dec. 30 to Jan. 3) and another in Cochrane (Dec. 17 to Dec. 29). The students pay for their stay.

This is a fantastic opportunity for building bridges between Japanese students and Canadian Christian families. Most of the students come from a non-Christian background (less than 1% of Japan's population is Christian) and staying with Christians in Canada is a great opportunity for them to make new friends and be exposed to the Gospel. The Newest Gullacher!
Congratulations to Sarah, Kurt, Liam and Kylie on the newest member of their family! Jackson Motley Gullacher was born on Tuesday, November 25 weighing in at 9 lbs 4 oz. Mom and baby are doing well. As their church family, we want to come alongside to bless and help the Gullachers by providing meals. Set-up Crew
We thank the Lord for the dedicated people who show up faithfully each week to set up for our morning worship service. To share the load, we're looking to establish two or three teams who will rotate our weekly set-up/take-down effort. If you're able to help, please talk to Thom Gordon or Steve Rathje. Come join the team and make a huge behind-the-scenes contribution to our ministry efforts!

Host an Exchange Student

Volunteer - Join the Rathje small group as we volunteer at the OCC Processing Centre in Calgary on Thursday, December 11 from 7:00 - 10:00 pm, where we will help sort through shoe box gifts packed by Canadians and get them ready for shipment overseas. Please contact Steve to sign-up. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. This is a great opportunity for small groups to serve together!

God Stories
"Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done...tell of all his wonderful acts." (Psalm 105:1,2). God is at work all around us and it is good to tell of the wonderful things He has done. Hearing how God is at work among us not only gives Him glory, but it's a tremendous encouragement to others and builds our faith as we follow Jesus together. What's your God story?  It may be an answer to prayer, a surprise blessing, or some other way God has shown Himself faithful to you. Nothing is too "small" to share; if it's important to you, it's important to us! Rapid Response Training
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada (BGEAC) is providing their Rapid Response Training Course, "His Presence in Crisis", on October 17 & 18 at their ministry center in Calgary. This crisis training prepares you to offer spiritual counsel and support to those around you in times of crisis and also qualifies you to be considered as a Chaplain with BGEAC's Rapid Response Team. As mentioned during last Sunday's message, there are tremendous benefits for those who hide God's Word in their hearts. It will help you resist temptation, make wise decisions, share your faith and provide you with a ready source of strength and encouragement. If you missed getting one last week, be sure to pick up the "God's Word in You" brochure we put together to help you hide God's Word in your heart. It contains 52 Bible verses to memorize - one each week for a year - and some tips to help get you started. This is a great thing to do together as a family or with your small group! A Note from the Elders
Last Sunday, September 21, Tapestry Church unanimously affirmed Steve Rathje to serve as our lead pastor (elder). Steve has been a faithful member of Tapestry, serving as a home group leader as well as chairman of our transition team. He has expressed and evidenced a call from God to ministry and we are excited that he has agreed to lead us during this important season in the life of our church. His passion is discipleship and missions. As he works with the elders and the congregation we believe God will continue to pour out his blessings under Steve's leadership. The kids are back in school, people are home from vacation, and many of our church ministries are getting back in full swing. This Sunday is our Fall Kick-off and we're going celebrate by having a potluck right after the service at Thom & Lorie Gordon's (59 Church Ranches Blvd). Baby Bush
Congratulations to Jim & Heather Bush on the safe arrival of their new baby girl! Grace Abigail was born on Tuesday, August 26 weighing in at 8 pounds 1 oz and 20 inches long. The labor was long and trying, but both mom and baby are doing well. Please remember the Bush family in your prayers.

Fall Kick-off
To reconnect as a church family after the summer, to welcome newcomers to Tapestry and to kick-off a new year of ministry, we will be having a potluck after the worship service on Sunday, September 7 at Thom and Lorie Gordon's (59 Church Ranches Blvd). A big heartfelt "thank you!" to all who came out to help with the Tuscany Stampede Breakfast last Saturday. We had over 35 volunteers from Tapestry! Our involvement not only helped make the event a success, but sent a strong message that we care about and want to be involved in our community. John, the Tuscany Program Director, couldn't believe the support from Tapestry and thanked us many times over for all our help, saying they couldn't have pulled it off without us. Well done!

News!
You'll soon see some new faces around Tapestry. Mountain View Christian Fellowship, a CCSB church that Tapestry has been associated with since our inception, has decided to close its doors at the end of July. A number of factors brought them to this point, the latest being a tripling of the rent in the community center where they meet. One of the options they discussed was joining with an existing church, an idea they approached the elders of Tapestry with last month. After much discussion and prayer, the elders feel this is something God would have us do and we see benefits for both congregations. We expect roughly 10 or 12 people from Mountain View will end up joining with Tapestry. Most of Mountain View visited with us for our worship service last weekend and are excited to become part of the Tapestry family. We will plan a potluck social in August to provide an opportunity for us to hang out and get to know one another better. Further information will be provided at church this Sunday. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any member of the elders: Bob, Max, Thom or Steve (note Steve and Max will be away until early August).

The Lord has used Mountain View to touch countless lives for His Kingdom over the years and they have been an important part of Tapestry's story. Even though their doors may be closing, the legacy of their "work produced by faith, their labor prompted by love, and their endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thessalonians 1:3) will live on into eternity for God's glory and praise.

On the Move

Mexico Family Adventure
The Rathje family leaves on July 19 to help lead a 2-week family-oriented mission trip to Tepic, Mexico. Please remember the Rathjes and their team in prayer while they are away. Pray for health, safety, team unity and for fruitful & effective ministry. Gracias!

The Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane has two FREE upcoming events for kids:

Day Camp - Tuesday, July 22 - Saturday, July 26 from 9:30 - noon for preschool & kindergarten through Grade 6. To register, please email Kristin Toussaint or Tim Williams. Bring your kids and their friends for fun, games, Bible stories, and arts/crafts!
• Children's Festival - Saturday, July 26 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm for ages 5 to 12. Fun, games, a bounce house, ice cream, prizes and lots of other great stuff! Everyone is welcome! Women's Bible Study
Kathy Howard, one of the team members from Texas who is here to help us out this summer, has developed a great "Getting to Know Who Jesus Is" study that she is going to share on July 7 - 11 from 10:00 am to noon at Lorie Gordon's place. It's a great study for anyone interested in learning more about who Jesus is - both those exploring the Christian faith and those who have already asked Jesus to be part of their lives. All former MOPS moms have been invited, but this is an open invitation for anyone who is interested. Come out and bring a friend! There is no cost and childcare will be provided. Just let Lynda know how many kids you'll be bringing so we ensure we have ample childcare.

VBS in Morley - As announced at church on Sunday, the Lord has opened a door for us to run a VBS program on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation in Morley. The program will run Monday, June 30 through Friday, July 4 from 9:30 am - noon. For more information, contact Lynda.
• Canada Day Block Party - The Blazinas are hosting a Canada Day party on Tuesday, July 1 for all their neighbors who live around the green space behind their home...and everyone at Tapestry is invited! We'll meet at 6:00 pm in the field behind their place, enjoy a BBQ supper, celebrate our great nation, and get to meet some of their neighbors. All food will be provided - just bring a lawn chair and/or picnic blanket!
• Family Movie Night - the Tuscany Community Association is having a Movie Night on Tuesday, July 2 at dusk. Tapestry is helping out with pre-show entertainment (e.g. face painting), set-up/tear-down, etc... This is a great opportunity to hang out with our neighbors, serve our community and enjoy a free movie!
• Prayer Walking - One of the most important and effective ways we can touch our community is to simply pray. Join us as we walk around and pray for Tuscany over the next couple of weeks. Specific days and times to be announced.

Tapestry families hosted the team last year and it was a great experience for both hosts and guests! If you can help or know someone who can, please contact Kyla Moon.

Prayer
Please note that Friday night prayer (normally the first and third Friday of every month) is canceled for this week. However, there are many things you can be bringing before the Lord on your own, with your family and in your small group, including:

Genns - They are back home (yeah!) where lil' Gus is continuing to recover from his heart surgery. Please continue to pray for his recovery and for Josh and Kelly who are feeling tired.
• Taits - Josh and Khara are in Prince Rupert, BC where they are leading a team in ministry to the community. Pray for them as they seek to build relationships with people, discern God's leading and serve the community. You can read more on their blog.
• Tapestry Church Plants - Please remember to pray for Nick and Cerena (Rocky Ridge), Brooke and Kelly (Citadel) and Jason and Leigh (Medicine Hat) as they seek to share Jesus and start new churches in these communities. Pray for strength, encouragement and open doors for ministry. For Citadel and Medicine Hat, pray that God will assemble a core group for each.
• Summer Ministry - Tapestry is gearing up for some intensive ministry to our community during the first 2 weeks of July. Congregational Meeting
There will be a quick congregational meeting following the morning worship service on Sunday, June 15 to discuss and vote on an affidavit declaring that we are a "bona fide church organization". Last Sunday was a very special day in the life of Tapestry as we gathered to celebrate with eleven in our church family who followed Jesus in believer's baptism. Despite the cold rain (hey, some of us were going to get wet anyway!), we had a great turnout - thanks to all of you who came out to show your support. A special heartfelt thanks to Thom and Lorie Gordon who hosted the event and went over and above the call of duty to serve us all. Check out the photos!

Summer Ministry
We're gearing up for 2 weeks of "giving ourselves away" to our community this July and you can be part of the action! Lynda Blazina is hosting a meeting at her place right after church on Sunday (lunch is provided) to talk about the plans and how you can be involved. For more information, please contact Lynda.

Host a Family
Speaking of summer ministry, there is a great and practical way for you to help - both in Tuscany and with our church plants! The team from Texas who is joining us for our first week of ministry in July needs a place to stay for two nights until they can get into their accommodation for the week. If you are able to host a single, couple or family June 27-28, please let Lynda Blazina know. We will also have a sign-up at church.

Tapestry Rocky Ridge and Tapestry Citadel are hosting Bike Fests this summer, and they're looking for families to host the team from Colorado. This team stayed with our families last year, and it was a great experience for everyone involved. If you are able to host a single, couple, or family with kids July 16 - 20, please contact Kyla Moon and let her know. If you're disappointed because 4 days just isn't long enough to really get to know someone, then you're in luck. Kevin and Kalina Young will get here early to prepare for Bike Fest, and, along with their 5 year old son Sam, will need a place to stay. If you have a spare room, a camper trailer, second house, basement suite, or even 2 couches available July 8 - 20, please let Kyla know.

Genn Update
Little Gus had his heart surgery on Tuesday and it appears all went well. Please continue to pray for a complete and speedy recovery. Josh and Kelly wish to extend their thanks for everyone's support and prayers! For an up-to-date report, check out the carepage Kelly has started.

Baptism Celebration & BBQ
Come on out this Sunday, May 25 at 3:00 pm to Thom & Lorie Gordon's for a baptism service, followed by a BBQ (please bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share). Support and celebrate with those in our church family who are taking the next step in their walk with Jesus by following Him in believer's baptism. We have twelve people being baptized - including an entire family!

Men's Ministry
Hey men, just a reminder that we meet every Sunday at 9:00 a.m. at the Tuscany Club. After setting up for the service together, we head over to Starbucks for some study and hanging out time.

Host a Family
There is a great and practical way for you to help with our summer ministry efforts - both in Tuscany and with our church plants! The team from Texas who is joining us for our first week of ministry in July needs a place to stay for two nights until they can get into their accommodation for the week. If you are able to host a single, couple or family June 27-28, please let Lynda Blazina know. We will also have a sign-up at church.

Tapestry Rocky Ridge and Tapestry Citadel are hosting Bike Fests this summer, and they're looking for families to host the team from Colorado. This team stayed with our families last year, and it was a great experience for everyone involved. If you are able to host a single, couple, or family with kids July 16 - 20, please contact Kyla Moon and let her know. If you're disappointed because 4 days just isn't long enough to really get to know someone, then you're in luck. Kevin and Kalina Young will get here early to prepare for Bike Fest, and, along with their 5 year old son Sam, will need a place to stay. If you have a spare room, a camper trailer, second house, basement suite, or even 2 couches available July 8 - 20, please let Kyla know.

One More for Jesus
Jesse Morales is a CCSB church planter, a friend to many at Tapestry and a passionate and gifted evangelist. He has recently been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and the doctor informed him that the average lifespan after diagnosis is only 2-3 years. Jesse's daughters are participating in a run to raise funds for ALS research on June 8 so their dad can keep winning people for Jesus. Helping in the Hat

Toward a Growing Marriage Seminar
Saturday. Catch-up day. But what if you devoted a Saturday to catch up on your marriage? Toward a Growing Marriage is a one-day conference with Dr. Gary Chapman (author of The Five Love Languages) on Saturday, May 24, 9:00 - 3:30 at Grace Baptist Church. Tickets ($43 per person) are available from Steve, Christian Publications, Blessings Christian Marketplace and Mountainview Bookstore (at the seminary in Cochrane).

Due to bad weather, the Tuscany Community Spring Cleanup planned for last Saturday was postponed to Saturday, May 24 from 9:00 to noon. We'll join our neighbors for morning juice/coffee before hitting the parks and trails, then enjoy a BBQ lunch to wrap up the event. Come on out, slap on a Tapestry t-shirt and volunteer a few hours with friends and family serving our community. Please contact Lynda Blazina or Steve Rathje to sign up.

Bilingual Baptism Service
Jeremiah and Mindy's bilingual bible study group is going to be baptizing Cesar and Eric (the two new believers Jeremiah shared about as part of a God story a number of weeks ago) this Sunday at 6:00 pm at Bow Valley Baptist Church in Cochrane. The baptism will be followed by a Spanish/English worship service, the Lord's Supper and a time of fellowship. Come on out to show your support to these new believers in their decision to follow Christ!

Prayer & Communion
Just a reminder about our Friday night prayer time scheduled for the first and third Friday of every month, 7:00 pm at the Blazina's. This week we'll be having a special time of praying for the Genns and celebrate communion together.

Men's Ministry
To kick-off our new men's ministry, all guys are invited to meet at the church at 9:00 am on Sunday morning. We'll set up for the service together and then head over to Starbucks for some java and some hangin' out time before morning worship.

It's Miller Time!
We're having a party for David and Lauren Miller! In a few short weeks they'll be traveling back to the states and we want to gather to say good-bye, honor them for giving so much to Tapestry, and offer our heartfelt congrats on the baby and David's graduation. There is a potluck at the Blazina's immediatley after church this Sunday, May 4. If you would like to give to the Millers for the baby or their trip south, please give a monetary gift to them personally. Come on out to show them our love, appreciation and support! Care Package for the Genns
A heartfelt thank you to those who have already contributed toward the care package for the Genns! It's not too late to be a part of this tangible demonstration of love and support. Restaurant gift cards, encouraging notes/cards or scripture, things to help pass time for Josh, Kelly & Ella (coloring books, magazines etc.), monetary donations and anything else that you feel would help them through their time in Edmonton for little Gus's surgery are welcome. Bob the Elder
It is being recommended that Bob Shelton be appointed as our third Elder. Bob brings a wealth of experience and wisdom to the role and in many ways has already been serving in this capacity. This appointment formalizes his role as an Elder at Tapestry where he will continue to offer leadership, teaching and pastoral care.
