Interim
pastor
Steve Rathje has accepted the call to be Tapestry Tuscany's interim pastor! Please pray for him and Marilyn as they transition into this position and lead us over the next several months. Please also continue to pray for the Transition Team as they seek out Tapestry's new pastor.
The Wilks
Jason and Leigh Wilks have arrived at their new home in Medicine Hat where they are Tapestry's first church planters outside of Calgary. Thank you to all who have committed to pray for them over the coming months.
Kyla
Please pray Kyla, from Tapestry Rocky Ridge, as she volunteers to serve people in a very different part of the world.
Coming up
It seems that one of Tapestry's great contributions to God's kingdom is the witnesses we send to the ends of the earth on a constant basis in obedience to Acts 1:8. Over the past week alone we sent a young family and young lady on great adventures. In a few short weeks, the Ireland team will set sail for the emerald shores. We even selected an interim Pastor with a burning passion to embark on a great mission of his own. Apparently, while we go about witnessing in Tuscany, Rocky Ridge, Citadel and Calgary, we are also inspiring a larger view within our church. A truly desirable condition indeed.
Jason and Leigh Wilks, accompanied by their two rambuncious boys, headed south this week to Medicine Hat to plant a brave new church. To hear Jason talk, he has no clear idea of exactly how his mission will unfold. Of all the tools he takes with him, his faith will certainly help him overcome the doubts and fears that would conspire to slow him down. Do not doubt that this is a significant challenge and the Wilks will need any and all prayer on their behalf to ensure their success. As with any mission, Jason and Leigh will face many problems and need to overcome serious challenges. Consider that rather than Tapestry sending them to Medicine Hat, we are on the journey with them. Do not doubt for even a moment how critically important any small amount of prayer and encouragement can be to help them succeed. Without our continued spiritual support, the dark forces of secular apathy and attack will overshadow them.
Tapestry is clearly behind the mission trip to Ireland in March. On February 9th we kick off a unique fundraiser at the "Royal Hacienda Hotel" in a night of Murder Mystery. Perhaps a bit off-beat but the Tapestry way of doing missions is a lot more hands-on and personal than simply sending money.
Even though Tapestry is small as churches go, we are big on taking our "Talking about Jesus" on the road. I would certainly encourage anyone who is going on a trip, no matter how far, to join the trend. Apparently this is one of the "Best Practices" lifted straight from our favorite book.
God Bless,
Thom Gordon
